BearCub and Sprite Still Need A Home

BearCub and Sprite have had two families show interest, but nothing final as of yet. they are active, fun kittens who are now weaned from their mom and are totally comfortable  with dogs, kids, other cats…(birds, bugs, balls of yarn, feet of unsuspecting snoozers…)

these are great kitties who need a safe, secure home - let us know if that’s you :)

Notes

BearCub and Sprite are the kittens who were found in a garage this summer. we found them at two weeks…their eyes barely open…they were so sweet. along with their sweet disposition, they were smelly and dirty as they had spent their first few weeks lying in an oil patch in a leaky old garage.

because they came in at two weeks, they are awesome, kid-friendly, dog-friendly, other cat-friendly housecats. they have had a preliminary look by a vet (at about three weeks) and received a big thumbs-up. they are now about ten weeks old - healthy, happy and really fun. our hopes are that they get placed together.

Notes

Poppy is about one year old. She was left in an apartment unit (in a building up the street from us) when the tenant moved out. another tenant from the building approached me to tell me about the kitty…it was a hot week and the cat had been left without food or water…. so we talked to the caretaker and removed her.  although she was quite frightened when we found her in the apartment, she warmed-up quickly once at our house…she was timid at first, but all she wanted was love.

Our little No-Kill Shelter

you may know that, time and again, our house becomes a little, neighborhood, no-kill shelter.

well, this summer has brought a bounty of cute, lovable beasties for whom we have not got the room to offer permanent shelter.

we have invested the $$ in them with the hopes that YOU will invest the love. the older girls (Poppy and MamaCat) have been fixed and they have had their first shots (rabies and distemper), and they are negative for feline lukemia — we offer nothing less than kid-tested, mother approved adoptees.

the kittens have had a preliminary exam at the vet (while they were but three weeks old), and they were in stunningly good shape for having been living in an oil slick for their first few weeks. we have access to low-cost spay and neuter for the little ones when they are ready (about two months from now). we are hoping to place them together.

Their Stories:

Poppy is about one year old. She was left in an apartment unit (in a building up the street from us) when the tenant moved out. another tenant from the building approached me to tell me about the kitty…it was a hot week and the cat had been left without food or water…. so we talked to the caretaker and removed her.  although she was quite frightened when we found her in the apartment, she warmed-up quickly once at our house…she was timid at first, but all she wanted was love.

MamaCat is a pink/grey tortise who wandered into our yard in early june - she is a very people-friendly cat who “lost” her housing. she was emaciated (under six pounds) and it was apparent she was a nursing mom so we fed her outside till we found her kittens. it took about five days, but we found them in a garage three houses up. they were about two weeks old - eyes just opening…and lying in a dirty little oil spot in the corner of the garage.

BearCub and Sprite are the kittens. as they came in at two weeks, they are awesome, kid-friendly, dog-friendly, other cat-friendly housecats. they are now about ten weeks and our hopes are that they get placed together.

We have great videos to share - watch for the next posts!
